Frequently Asked Questions

How is the 12% PF calculated under the New Wage Code?

PF is calculated on your 'Wage Base'. If your basic pay + DA (Core Wages) is less than 50% of your total gross salary, the difference is automatically added back to form your Wage Base. PF is then calculated as 12% of this Wage Base.

What is the ₹15,000 PF ceiling?

Statutorily, employers are only required to contribute PF on a maximum wage of ₹15,000 per month. Any contribution beyond that is voluntary. The Employer's 8.33% contribution to the Pension Scheme (EPS) is strictly capped at ₹1,250 (which is 8.33% of ₹15,000) regardless of whether PF is calculated on a higher wage base.
