Overview

Labour Code Advisor maintains rigorous editorial standards to ensure that all information published on this platform is accurate, current, and properly sourced. This policy governs how we select, verify, and maintain content across all our tools, guides, and reference materials.

Sourcing Standards

Primary Sources

All legislative and regulatory content is sourced directly from:

  • Official Ministry of Labour & Employment publications and gazette notifications
  • The 4 New Labour Codes (Acts and associated Central Rules)
  • State Government notifications implementing or amending the Codes
  • Supreme Court and High Court judgments interpreting the Codes
  • Official Government of India websites (labourweb.gov.in, prsindia.org)

Secondary Sources

Analysis and interpretation draw from secondary sources only after verification against primary legislation:

  • Published legal commentary and case law analysis
  • Official government FAQs and circulars
  • Industry body guidance (FCCI, CII, NASSCOM)

We never rely on third-party interpretations without corroborating against the actual statutory text.

Accuracy & Verification

Section-Level Citations

Every legal claim on Labour Code Advisor cites the specific section, rule, or notification it comes from. Users can cross-reference these citations directly with the official Act or gazette notification. This is our primary differentiator — we do not make sweeping claims without pointing to the exact source.

Multi-Reviewer Process

Content involving compliance obligations or calculation methodologies is reviewed by at least two qualified reviewers before publication:

  • Domain expert verification (labour law familiarity)
  • Operational accuracy check (against real-world HR workflows)

Calculator & Tool Verification

All interactive tools (Gratuity Calculator, Compliance Calendar, etc.) are tested against known test cases and verified against the statutory formulas they implement. The logic and hardcoded values are documented alongside their source legislation.

Scope & Limitations

What We Cover

  • The 4 New Labour Codes (Wages, Social Security, Industrial Relations, OSH) and their Rules
  • Central Rules and State Rules implementing the Codes
  • Statutory forms, registers, and compliance deadlines
  • Non-amendment provisions in repealed legacy laws (where still operationally relevant)

What We Do Not Cover

  • Individual case law (except landmark Supreme/High Court judgments that clarify the law)
  • ComplianceAge or other premium services
  • Real-time legal counsel or advice
  • Interpretations of ambiguous sections pending judicial clarification
  • Legacy labour laws no longer in force (except their transition/repeal status)

Maintenance & Updates

Notification Tracking

We track Ministry of Labour & Employment gazette notifications continuously. When new notifications, rules, or court orders are published, we update relevant pages within 7 days of the official publication. Large structural changes (e.g., a new State implementation) may take up to 2 weeks depending on verification requirements.

Version Control

All content changes are tracked in our public GitHub repository. Users can view the change history, see what was added/removed, and when. This ensures transparency and allows external fact-checking.

Deprecation & Archival

When content becomes outdated or superseded, we:

  • Add an explicit notice to the top of the page indicating it is archived or updated
  • Provide a link to the replacement or current version
  • Keep the old version accessible in our archive for historical reference

Errors & Corrections

Despite rigorous verification, errors can occur. If you identify a factual error:

  1. Please report it via email to Contact@labourcodesadvisor.com
  2. Include the specific page, section, and the correct information with a source citation
  3. We will review and correct within 3 business days
  4. Corrections will be tracked in the changelog and clearly marked as corrections

Bias & Neutrality

Labour Code Advisor is designed for HR professionals, payroll teams, and business owners navigating compliance. While our perspective reflects practical business operational needs, we present the law as written, not as we believe it should be. When provisions are ambiguous or contested, we present multiple interpretations and cite relevant court judgments.

We do not advocate for law changes or policy positions. We present the current law and its implementation across states objectively.

Data Retention & Privacy

This platform does not collect personal data through content consumption (no login, no tracking pixels for individual identification). We do not sell or share any user information. See our Licence and legal notices for full details.

External Review & Feedback

We welcome expert feedback on our content. If you are a labour law practitioner, government official, or industry body with corrections, clarifications, or suggestions, please reach out:
